Sbarro To Enter Japan and Argentina

Multi-unit Development Agreements Signed for Sbarro and Pizza Cucinova

Sbarro announces the signing of two International Development agreements. The first is signed by KADOYA to develop 15 Pizza Cucinova restaurants in Japan and the second is signed by Desarrolladora Gastronimica to open 20 Sbarro restaurants in Argentina.

KADOYA is a development and commercial real estate company with properties primarily in Osaka. They are the master franchisee of Greenberry Coffee in Japan and also run the BBQ concept, Shinra. Mr. Ryohei Iwatani, President & CEO of K&B Brothers, a KADOYA subsidiary, said “We have tremendous confidence in the Sbarro Management Team and are excited to join them in impacting Japanese food culture. Pizza is very popular in Japan, but people know it for either delivery pizza with less quality or high-end restaurant pizza as part of an Italian full course dinner. Now, with Pizza Cucinova, we add another option for pizza lovers in a fast-casual environment. Our customers will enjoy authentic, customizable pizza at a reasonable price.”

Desarrolladora Gastronomica, S.A., is a leading restaurant developer and operator of several concepts in Argentina from fine dining steak houses to casual dining and local pizzerias. Rafael Pereira-Aragon noted “I am honored to join the Sbarro Global family. We are very impressed with the company, and the focus and dedication of their management team. Our company is committed to develop Sbarro in Argentina, combining their strong brand attributes with our local restaurant operations experience and tradition. We are confident that the Sbarro brand will fit the consumer habits here very well.”

“We are very grateful for Ryohei and his team for their trust and confidence in our Pizza Cucinova brand as well as Rafael and his team for bringing Sbarro to Argentina,” said David Karam, Sbarro CEO. “We are very excited to enter these countries with such proven restaurant operators and real estate developers, and look forward to the opening of their first locations.”
